Established in 1971 on the Gold Coast, ASKM Gold Coast has presented numerous, excellent concerts featuring first-class professional Australian and overseas artists.
Prestigious piano competitions
attracting outstanding future stars
Prizemoney, encouragement trophies and music tuition bursaries are awarded to students by highly trained and professional adjudicators. Past competition winners of our Prestigious Open Piano Competition have included Jayson Gillham, Oliver She who are enjoying further successes in their musical careers. Over $4000 in prizemoney is offered.
Since 1983 ASKM has conducted a Piano Competition for Gold Coast students and since 1998 a highly successful and prestigious Open Piano Competition which attracts young emerging performers of a very advanced standard.
An exciting National Piano Competition was held on the Gold Coast in 1988 to celebrate this nation's Bicentenary. The final of this competition required pianists to perform a concerto with the (then) Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
